​Developer Glenbrook Property with investor Barings Real Estate, has applied for planning consent for the second phase of the Queens Dock development in Liverpool.

Formerly home to HMRC, Keel Phase 1 developed 240 apartments and was one of the first bespoke private rented schemes in the UK and the first in the North West. It completed in 2015.

Designed by Brock Carmichael, the scheme on Liverpool’s waterfront plans to deliver 260 apartments across two eight-storey blocks, flanking the original HMRC building, with great waterside views.

In 2019, new plans for the site approved a residents’ pavilion with management and communal resident amenities; a lounge, co-working space and new state-of-the-art gym, together with six townhouses with associated landscaping.

The new plans and amendments to existing consents for Keel will improve and enhance facilities for both existing and future residents.

Stuart McCrone, projects director at Glenbrook describes the site as “one of the prime residential locations in Liverpool”.

Michael Cosser, Partner at Brock Carmichael said; “We have worked closely with Liverpool City Council to design a scheme that sits comfortably alongside The Keel and the wider environment, whilst respecting the buffer zone of the World Heritage Site.”

A contractor is yet to be decided but is planned to start onsite in 2021.
