Masterplan, concept design and executive delivery for the a £15m major mixed use regeneration of the centre of the Blacon Estate in Chester.
In 2009 Brock Carmichael Architects were appointed to prepare a visionary Masterplan for the re-development of Blacon Parade in Chester. This major mixed-use regeneration scheme is being delivered by an innovative partnership between Sanctuary and Cheshire West and Chester Council including Cheshire NHS and other vital local community organisations.
The proposals provide substantial refurbishment of existing housing, 62 new build housing units, a 36 unit sheltered housing scheme, a fully refurbished local retail centre including a Spar, 3000sqm new build PCT facility, 1000sqm new flexible community building and library.
Key to the success of the project has been sustained and effective consultation between key local stakeholders and the wider community. The project has now moved into the implementation phase with Brock Carmichael leading on executive delivery.
The final phase is currently under construction for completion Spring 2021 and includes a Group Practice and Health & Wellbeing Hub with 16 apartments above for affordable rent. (See images, right.)
