Masterplan, concept design and executive delivery for the a £15m major mixed use regeneration of the centre of the Blacon Estate in Chester.
In 2009 Brock Carmichael Architects were appointed to prepare a visionary Masterplan for the re-development of Blacon Parade in Chester. This major mixed-use regeneration scheme is being delivered by an innovative partnership between Sanctuary and Cheshire West and Chester Council including Cheshire NHS and other vital local community organisations.
The proposals provide substantial refurbishment of existing housing, 62 new build family housing units, a 40 unit new build sheltered housing scheme, a fully refurbished local retail centre now occupied by Spar, 3000sqm new build PCT facility and 1000sqm new flexible community building. Key to the success of the project has been sustained and effective consultation, managed by Brock Carmichael, between key local stakeholders and the wider community. The project has now moved into the implementation phase with Brock Carmichael leading on executive delivery.
The final phase is currently at planning stage (May 2019) and includes a group practice and medical centre, pharmacy and nine apartments. (See images, right.)
