National Carpet Museum, Worcestershire
Working closely with the interpretive designers Brock Carmichael have restored and converted this handsome Grade 2* listed building into a major tourist attraction.
Built in the 19th Century, the Stour Vale Mill Building in Kidderminster formerly housed the administrative offices and design studios for the Grosvenor Wilton carpet factory.
Following the successful awarding of £1.9M of Heritage Lottery Funding and the raising of an additional £0.7M of match funding from the Museum Trust, this building has been bought back into use as the Kidderminster Carpet Museum. The existing facade has been delicately restored and complimented with a contemporary high quality museum fit-out.
The building opened on the 12 October 2012.
