Transport Museum, Bury
Brock Carmichael have converted the Grade 2 Listed Castlecroft Goods Shed to provide a permanent home for a fantastic collection of transport artifacts.
This painstaking restoration and remodelling of this fascinating piece of british industrial heritage, located in Bury Town Centre, now provides a museum and integrated site for use by both Bury Metropolitan Borough Council and the East Lancashire Railway Trust.
The implementation followed the preparation of a Conservation Plan, Options Appraisal and Restoration/Development Plan for the site.
The project also included securing Planning Approval and Listed Building Consent for the restoration/conversion of the Grade II listed goods warehouse at Summerseat to provide live work / residential units for sale.
This £3.5M project was funded by £1.9M worth of Heritage Lottery Funding and £1.6M of match funding from key stakeholders.
