The five-acre Great George Street regeneration scheme has been approved. It includes new residential, office & commercial space, anchored by a new linear park.

The development, next to the Anglican Cathedral, is for 466 apartments and 37 townhouses in a total of seven buildings, 12,000sqm (130,000 sq ft) of commercial space, 45,000 sq ft of offices with parking and landscaping, 400 spaces for underground car parking, 300 cycle spaces, a 144 bedroom hotel and a new city park with landscaped gardens, wide footways and a cycleway. It preserves and takes a design lead from the Wedding House within the site.
