STEC

Brock Carmichael worked closely with contractor Ashlar Construction UK Ltd. on the £900k refurbishment of STEC which will revitalise this training and community enterprise centre. Work involves external refurbishment of the building and the construction of a stunning new glass lift tower. The lift will provide accessibility to all floors, without losing space inside the building which had remained unchanged for over 30 years. The building is also used as a resource for individuals, community groups and small businesses.

The work was made possible with a grant, part of the £9 million Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Local Growth Fund. Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor, Steve Rotheram said when the grant was announced:

“These awards have been targeted to ensure we have the spaces and facilities to enable our communities to access the skills and jobs we need.”

Speke Training & Education Centre is a charity which contributes to sustainable regeneration by supporting unemployed people back into employment and encouraging lifelong learning with community-based learning and skills training programmes.
