Favourite Building in Liverpool:

Despite being the obvious choice as a Sterling prize winner, one of my favourite buildings in Liverpool is the Everyman Theatre by Haworth Tompkins. From the bespoke facade to the minute detailing of the carefully selected material pallet, drama and animation have been injected into almost every aspect of the scheme. What I most admire about the Everyman, is that despite being a very sensitive local project, the design is willing to be bold, creative and introduce new ideas. More impressive than that, is how successfully each of those individual design choices are when serving as part of a cohesive whole.

Favourite Building in the World:

Bordeaux Law Courts, France, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (formerly Richard Rogers Partnership). Apart from its aesthetic qualities, which I am very fond of, I enjoy and appreciate the narrative and concept behind the design development as well as the continuous interplay between juxtapositions; public vs private, concealment vs exposure and soft warm timber contained within cold hard steel and glass.

Projects I’m currently working on:

  • A development in Bath, Somerset.
